Many businesses think they have a successful online business but in fact it’s just a website. In regard to your website, are you prompting your customers to “come here often?”

A successful online business will mean customers return to your website time and time again. In worst-case scenarios, a business websites will get one visit and never see them again.

You’ve invested a lot of time and money in this online marketing tool. You need to make sure you’re getting a return on your investment, right?

So how do you engage online visitors and turn them into customers?

Firstly, you need to provide an experience – a number of ways in which people can engage with you. Sounds pretty simple right? Well, it is:

Consumers need ways they can try you out without fully committing the first time – maybe a free downloadable brochure or a video showing off your business? Or even an introductory offer for first-time users.

You should add an opt-in newsletter sign up form to the homepage, free reports and try to develop an online shop and work on how to display your products – more on this to come.

With the majority of consumers doing research online and more and more buying online, its time to get serious about your online business presence. Develop and sell products, promote what you’re doing and offer your customers what they want.

Secondly, customers will primarily visit your website to check you out. They want to see who they are dealing with. There are lots of different ways you can engage with them:

  • People do business with people. Add photos of you and your team so they can see who they are doing business with.
  • Add a short paragraph about your business and why you do what you do. Tell the story in an interesting and engaging way.
  • Add your social media icons in a prominent position so customers can follow your updates and get an insight into your business personality and what you offer
  • Highlight any associations, business awards and community involvement – this is a great way for customers to see what you may have in common.

All of the above aspects should be included in your website if you are looking to convert visitors to customers. WebCentral offers web design services that can help you incorporate all these features – as well as a hosted e-commerce solution that makes managing a secure online store a breeze.
